Well it’s been a busy week for those search folk, here’s a roundup of what’s been going on.

  1. Interflora won got a score draw in their case to stop people bidding on their brand term link
  2. Schmidt denies Google ‘cooks’ search results, says it serves the users link
  3. Google says “you must mobile optimise landing pages” – okay… link
  4. Yandex reignited the search war on Google link
  5. Google+ opened up to everyone (and hoped they would use it) advertised on the Google homepage with a big blue arrow link
  6. Google wallet launched – remember it’s their money in your pocket and they want it link
  7. We launched our SEO planning tool as part of the E2 SEO Platform link
  8. Facebook didn’t announce they were going to become a search engine at F8, but did announce a lot of stuff link

Some may say SEO is dead, but we all know it isn’t, ignore it at your peril. However, having been in this game for a long time there are a few things in the client process that just take up too much time, are never easy and there’s never been a simple solution.

If you think of any SEO campaign as having 5 key elements or rules:

  1. Understand the business challenge – make sure your campaign aligns with the clients business strategy and goals
  2. Collect and analyze SEO data – find the story in the numbers
  3. Create a plan
  4. Implement the plan
  5. Track, monitor and report back

Points 2 and 5 are the ones I set out to solve, how can I stop spending days gathering data and analyzing it and how can I put tracking, monitoring and reporting onto autopilot?

So, 3 years ago I started, in my spare time, evenings and weekends building the solution and finally it’s almost finished!

Now I’ve got simple things like, an idea of what happens to sites when there’s an algorithm update.

I also wanted traffic data against search volume, so I plugged in Google Analytics and can now see traffic against potential at keyword level.

At last I now have the information I need at my finger tips, I don’t have to worry about continuously collecting data manually from hundreds of different sources and I get it all in a nice dashboard with some pretty cool graphs, it’s SEO software with a difference.
